Love and Basketball

There is a documentary on a famous NBA star, Jeremy Lin, as he struggled to play in the NBA despite doubts and rejection.  It may be silly that anyone would doubt Lin after his great performance with the Knicks and the Rockets.  But before his fame, Lin was almost denied entrance to the Knicks practice room because the security did not believe he was even a player.  He didn't fit the norm because he was an Asian American basketball form Harvard.  Instead of lashing out against the security and team, Lin waited patiently until he could show the world that he deserved to be called an NBA basketball player with his drive and skills.  The documentary revolves around Lin as he pushed aside the criticism and doubts because he was certain of his ability to succeed as a basketball player.
Recently I have left the opinions and doubts from others play a big role on my life satisfaction and confidence.  Today I learned that if I am certain of something, I must not let the negativity of others diminish my confidence in my goals. Like Lin, I am certain on my goals and I will no longer let others refute my aspirations and desires.  I understand I do not know everything, but I know that I am willing to take risks and possibly to fail because at the end of the day, I will know I tried.
