Child's Play

Today in my internship, a group of 30 kindergartens came in to volunteer.  Volunteers usually examine and clean up donations of clothing, toys, and anything a child might need.  At first, I thought, how adorable!  But then I assumed the children would not be any help at all and run around of instead of sorting and cleaning.

I took a sneak peak at their volunteer work and was amazed!  All the children were in their specific spots, brushing away and keeping their voices and actions down.  It surprised me and was such a wonderful sight to see children helping other children.

Today I learned that I should never underestimate anyone I encounter, especially those who we expect less from, like children.  I just need to give everyone a chance before making assumptions that could hinder their chance to shine!
